The Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation was co-founded in 2000 by eminent gynaecological oncology specialist, Chairman/ Co-Founder, Associate Professor Thomas Jobling and CEO/ Co-Founder and Business Woman Liz Heliotis and in association with Founding Partner NAB.

In 2011 we honour eleven amazing years of research.

The Foundation fosters research into ovarian cancer – a disease that claims the life of one Australian woman every ten hours. While ovarian cancer is identified in women, its repercussions affect all mankind. Without at least one healthy ovary, a child cannot be born.

Currently there is no effective screening test for ovarian cancer and the majority of cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage. Finding a method of early detection is the key to improving the survival rate.

Australian Gourmet Traveller formed a partnership with the Foundation to increase community awareness of ovarian cancer and to raise vital funds for research. Gourmet Traveller, for the seventh year, is proud to present the Gala again this year alongside the Grand Hyatt Melbourne.
